Internationale Leibniz-Kongress, der pandemiebedingt auf 2023 verschoben werden musste, steht unter dem Motto „Le present est plein de l’avenir, et chargé du passé“ („Die Gegenwart ist mit der Zukunft angefüllt und mit der Vergangenheit beladen“), einem Zitat aus Leibniz’ <em><span style='font-family:"Arial",sans-serif'>Nouveaux essais sur l’entendement humain </span></em>(1704)<em><span style='font-family:"Arial",sans-serif'>. </span></em>Es verdeutlicht die Relevanz von Leibniz’ Philosophie auch für aktuelle, scheinbar weit entfernte Debatten und lädt ein, solche Bezüge herzustellen.<br><br>Der Kongress stellt eine wichtige Gelegenheit dar, den während der Pandemie eingeschränkten internationalen Kontakt unter Leibniz-Forscher*innen wiederzubeleben, und ermöglicht jüngeren Forschenden einen Einstieg in die Leibniz-Community.<br><br>Seit dem letzten Kongress 2016 ist das Korpus an erschlossenen und edierten Leibniz-Schriften und -Briefen stark angewachsen. Neue digitale Forschungsinstrumente wurden zur Verfügung gestellt. Leibniz’ Briefwechsel wie auch ein Teil seiner Schriften sind nun bis auf das letzte Jahrzehnt verlässlich ediert. <br><br>Über die Philosophie und Wissenschaftsgeschichte hinaus sind aktuell vielfältige Forschungsansätze zu beobachten: Denn auch andere Disziplinen wie die frühneuzeitliche Netzwerkforschung und die historische Praxeologie interessieren sich verstärkt für Leibniz. Bedeutende Forschungsbeiträge und -debatten der letzten Jahre betrafen so verschiedene Aspekte wie Leibniz’ Begriff des Unendlichen und Unendlichkleinen; die Untersuchung von Leibniz’ Korrespondenz-Netzwerk im größeren Zusammenhang der frühneuzeitlichen Gelehrtenrepublik; seine Wissenschaftspolitik sowie seinen Umgang mit historischen Quellen und mit Informationen aus Russland und China. Von besonderem Interesse dürften ferner die teilweise kontroversen Diskussionen zu Leibniz’ Rechtsphilosophie, der stark metaphysisch geprägten Gerechtigkeitstheorie, der modernen Transformation der Monadologie sowie der mit dem Kongressmotto in unmittelbarem Zusammenhang stehenden Frage nach Harmonie, Kontinuität und Diskontinuität sein. Der Kongress soll diese Ansätze in ihrer ganzen Breite und Diversität repräsentieren.<br><br>Der Kongress steht allen Themen mit Bezug zu Leibniz offen. Um den Austausch unter Leibniz-Forscher*innen schon im Vorfeld zu fördern, wird ausdrücklich dazu aufgerufen, neben Einzelvorträgen auch Sektionsvorschläge einzureichen.<br> <br>Die Veranstalter laden alle interessierten Forscher*innen, Sachkenner*innen und Freunde zur Teilnahme ein. It illustrates the ongoing relevance of Leibniz's philosophy to current, seemingly distant debates and invites us to make such connections.<br><br>The congress represents an important opportunity to revive the international contact among Leibniz researchers, limited during the pandemic, and enables younger researchers to join the Leibniz community.<br><br>Since the last congress in 2016, the corpus of indexed and edited Leibniz writings and letters has grown considerably. New digital research tools have been made available. Leibniz's correspondence as well as some of his writings have now been edited reliably right down to the last decade. <br><br>In addition to philosophy and the history of science, a wide range of research approaches can currently be observed: other disciplines such as early modern network research and historical praxeology are also increasingly interested in Leibniz. Significant research contributions and debates in recent years have concerned aspects as diverse as Leibniz's concept of the infinite and infinitesimally small; the investigation into Leibniz's correspondence network in the larger context of the early modern Republic of Scholars; his policy towards sciences as well as his handling of historical sources and of information from Russia and China. Of particular interest are also the sometimes controversial discussions on Leibniz's philosophy of law, the strongly metaphysical theory of justice, the modern transformation of the monadology and the question of harmony, continuity and discontinuity, which is directly related to the congress motto. The congress aims to represent these approaches in all their breadth and diversity.<br><br>The congress is open to all topics related to Leibniz. In order to promote the exchange among Leibniz researchers in advance, participants are expressly called upon to submit section proposals in addition to individual talks. <br><br>The organisers invite all interested researchers, experts and friends to participate.
