<div style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt" class=MsoNormal><FONT color=#000000 size=3 face="Times New Roman">Unter dem Dantes Paradiso entlehnten Titel "Umbriferi prefazi" (XXX,78) zeichnet die Tagung die allmähliche 'Wiederentdeckung' des Schattens seit dem Ende des 12. Jahrhunderts nach. Sie versteht diese als eine aufschlussreiche Neuerung im Denken und Vorstellen europäischer Kulturen, die sich besonders prägnant in der Literatur sowie in den (bildenden) Künsten fassen lässt. Im interdisziplinären Gespräch wird der Umgang mit dem Schatten über vier Jahrhunderte in seiner doppelten Signifikanz, nämlich als physikalisches Phänomen und als Metapher, untersucht werden. Ziel ist es, Gemeinsamkeiten, Verbindungen und Entwicklungslinien zwischen den Künsten und den Wissenschaften in der Behandlung des Schattens zwischen dem 12. und dem Ende des 16. Jahrhunderts auszumachen.</FONT></div>
