<p class=MsoNormal>auf die Gefahr hin, dass einige von Ihnen mehrfach diese
unangenehme Email erhalten, schicke ich die Informationen, die ich gerade an
die Mitglieder der Wolfram-Gesellschaft geschrieben habe, auch an die
Mediävistik-Liste, denn sie betrifft nicht nur die germanistische Mediävistik:<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Letzte Woche ist Dr. Anne Simon, die vielen von Ihnen durch
Ihre Beiträge zu verschiedenen Anglo-Deutschen Kolloquien, zur
Nürnberg-Forschung, zur Reiseliteratur und vielem mehr bekannt sein dürfte, knall
auf Fall gekündigt worden – eine sogenannte „compulsory redundancy“ als
Gegensatz zum „freiwilligen“ vorzeitigen Gehen. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-GB>Die offizielle Begründung des Dekans im
Schreiben lautete, dass es im langfristigen Interesse der Germanistik in
Bristol sei, Mediävistik und frühe Neuzeit abzubauen („the Faculty needs to
save money and it has been decided that it is in the best long-term interest of
the German Department to divest it of its mediaeval/early-modern component. </span>“)
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Dr Elizabeth Andersen und ich koordinieren ein formelles
Protestschreiben der britischen Mediävistinnen und Mediävisten an den
verantwortlichen Dekan der Artistenfakultät (einen klassischen Philologen!) und
hätten dafür gern so viel wie möglich Rückendeckung gerade aus der deutschen
und internationalen Germanistik. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Ich würde daher Sie um Meldungen an meine email-Adresse zu zweierlei
bitten:<o:p></o:p></p>

</span></span><![endif]>um unterstützende Statements, die gerade auf die
Forschungsleistung von Anne Simon hinweisen. Gerne auch auf Deutsch,
Französisch… um die internationale Dimension des Protestes zu unterstreichen!
Die enge Vernetzung der Mediävistik war immer eine besondere Stärke, die in
Zeiten der Internationalisierung der geisteswissenschaftlichen
Forschungslandschaft von besonderer Bedeutung ist.<o:p></o:p></p>

das selbstverständlich auch willkommen – und natürlich auch an Anne <a
href="mailto:a.simon@bristol.ac.uk">Simon</a> selbst. Die Zeit drängt – am Montag
will eine Journalistin vom Guardian einen Artikel schreiben, der am Dienstag
veröffentlicht werden soll.<o:p></o:p></p>
