Two online events on book bindings!

On May 25 and May 27, the CERL Working group for book bindings will arrange two online events dedicated to different aspects of historical book bindings. The working group's overall objective is to promote the interest for and the knowledge of all aspects of historical book bindings. One major issue is to complement traditional library cataloguing of book bindings with more images, on-line resources and information as traditional library cataloguing is often not sufficient for discovery of this highly interesting heritage resource.

There will be a live presentation at each event and a week before the occasions we will also distribute links of pre-recorded presentations to those who have registered. These pre-recorded presentations will broaden the perspectives on different historical book bindings and bookbinding related resources. After the live presentations there will be a Questions & Answers session where the participants will be able to ask questions and discuss with the presenters of both the live and the pre-recorded presentations together with members from the CERL book bindings WG.

Programme:

May 25 15.00-16.30 CET (2 -3.30 PM UK-time)
Bettina Wagner from Staatsbibliothek Bamberg will present: A mediaeval horn binding and its modern reproduction - the Bamberg Psalter

The pre-recorded presentations are:

May 27 15.00-16.30 CET (2 -3.30 PM UK-time)
